Cadillac Continues to Show Off the Ciel at Auto Shows

Those of you out there who check out the Diamond Auto Group blog quite frequently may remember our previous post about a nostalgia-inspired concept from Cadillac. Known as the Cadillac Ciel, the model was shown off at the Pebble Beach in California, and we were left to wonder what the fate of the awe-inspiring concept would be. Luckily, we recently got another glimpse of the Ciel at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show, and we're ready to share everything we learned about it with you.

While there's still no official word on whether or not the 40's and 50's designed roadster would make it into production, we can confirm that a price for such a model would likely be around $100,000; now that's true luxury! Under the hood, the vehicle packs an impressive 3.6-liter V6 engine, though we should note that its power isn't the reason behind its luxurious price. Rather that's thanks to its olive wood-trimmed interior, which came from a 300-year-old tree that fell during a storm outside Naples, Italy.

"The Ciel is an exploration into the flagship vehicle for Cadillac," explains Niki Smart, exterior design manager at GM. "We're able to spend the entire project duration here in researching and executing the design of the car in the environment it was intended for."1

So will the Cadillac Ciel ever make it into production? Or will this edgy spin on the vehicles of yesteryear remain a concept? We'd love to hear what you think, so make sure to leave us a comment below!
