New Film Showcases Classic Buick Model

Just uttering the name Buick Grand National around a true performance enthusiast is sure to elicit a response of genuine nostalgia and joy. The vehicle featured a powerplant that cranked out 200 hp at 4400 rpm and 300 lb/ft of torque at 2400 rpm, and it did so with ease. The model broke the mold of conventions for what a vehicle should be when it was released in the 1980's, and even today it carries an iconic presence to it that not much else can match. Can you tell that everyone here at the Diamond Auto Group is a fan?

As it turns out New York producer Andrew Filippone Jr., who recently produced the film Black Air: The Buick Grand National Documentary. That's right, the 60-minute picture focuses on the legacy of the vehicle, and though it won't be on the big screen until summer of 2012, there are various clips floating around the web that should satisfy eager fans in the greater Worcester area and beyond until then.

The movie certainly isn't for everyone, as to some, the idea of making a documentary about a classic car might not sound all that appealing. But, we think those with this mindset should really give the film a chance. It does more than just chronicle the production life of the Grand National, serving as a commentary on the social milieu of the nineteen-eighties as well.
